Welcome to Leigh's Chameleons

Hellooooooo! I bought my Veiled Chameleons, Pedro and Delilah about 2 years ago and I've been learning ever since! On this website I'd like to share what I have learnt and hopefully help people who are looking for help or tips on how to look after their new pets. The petshop I bought my guys from gave me allot of duff information and despite making out like they really cared, with hindsight, they just wanted to get my money and get me out of their as quickly as possible.

There are fantastic shops with great staff out there but do ensure you do your research before believing everything the "guy in the petshop" tells you.

The first and most important lesson is despite what the "guy in the pet shop" may tell you, veiled chameleons do not get on with each other... not even as a pair.

When I bought mine I was encouraged to buy a male and a female to live together and this is not a good idea. They may be fine as juveniles but one day you'll wake up and find them battering each other and wonder what happened while you were sleeping. Pedro and Delilah were OK until they were mature, then they mated and had to be separated.

UPDATE: There are people who have success with keeping Chameleons in pairs. It seems to be a subject people gernerally disagree on. I recently did a poll asking "Can chameleons live together" on a popular forum and the feedback was split 60 40. The 60 being "No". If your going to try it just be prepared to separate them if they don't get on.

I'm just a normal person who is still learning a lot each day. All advice is from personal experience to share what i have learnt. You should always consult a professional if you have any doubts or concerns.
